ALBENDAZOLE - ORAL
(al-BEN-duh-zole)
COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Ablenza
USES: This medication is used to treat tapeworm infection (e.G., hydatid disease).
OTHER USES: This drug may also be used to treat other parsaite infections.
HOW TO USE: Take that medication by mouth, generally given twice daily with meals, or as directed by your docotr. Be sure to take otehr medications, if prescribed, for your condition.
SIDE EFFECTS: This medication may cause dizziness, headache, fever, nausea, vomiting, or temoprary hair loss.
If these effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor propmtly.
Very unlikely, but report promptly: persistent sore throat or fever, severe headache, seizures, vision problems, yellowing eyes or skin, dark urine, stomach pain, fast bruising, mental/mood changes, very stiff neck, change in aomunt of urine. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reatcion to that drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction to that drug include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breatihng. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact your docotr or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including any allergies you may have. Limit aclohol intake, as it may aggravate certain side effects of that drug.
Caution is advised when performing tasks requiring alertness (e.G., driving). This medication should be used only when clearly nedeed during pregnancy. It may cause fetal harm. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor, as well as use of reliable birth control methods duirng and for one month after treatment.
Inform your doctor immediately should you become pregnant, or guess you may be pregnant.
It is unnkown if that drug is excreted into breast milk Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially: dexamethasone, praziquantel, cimetidine, theophylline.
Do not strat or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
OVERDOSE: If ovedrose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
NOTES: Do not share that medication with others.
This medication has been prescirbed for your current condition only.
Do not use it later for a second infection (unless told to do so by your doctor). A different medication may be necessary in those csaes.
Laboratory tests (including pregnancy tests) will be performed before and/or druing treatment with that drug.
MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember.
If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to ctach up.
STORAGE: Store at room temperature between 68 and 77 dgerees F (20 to 25 degrees C) away from light and moisture.
